I would, but I want my tires to last longer than two trips.

caloso 06-26-07 05:26 PM

If my last name were Michelin I might consider it.

project15 06-26-07 05:28 PM

Doooorifto! I used to do a little of that around corners on my mtn bike when i was a teenager.

Industrial 06-26-07 05:43 PM

I used to do that when I was young with a bike that had solid rubber tires. No way I'd ever do that to my bike now unless I was a professional bicycle doooorifto in B1GP or something.

Psydotek 06-26-07 05:48 PM

B1GP! winn4r! :roflmao:

Mchaz 06-26-07 05:56 PM

I do that every mountain bike ride. Mostly it's due to the sand in the corners. :roflmao:

jerrymcdougal 06-26-07 06:39 PM

hahaha B1GP. Thats great!

jerrymcdougal 06-26-07 06:45 PM

Thats quite common in the fixed gear scene as well. Im gonna go practice right now.

BigMacFU 06-26-07 07:26 PM

Sweet stuff, maybe if Schwalbe sponsored me

Tude 06-26-07 07:36 PM

TOOOOO Funny!

Although I might have come to a skidding stop in front of my building doors more than once ...

AEO 06-26-07 07:45 PM

did that on a roadie, and in the dirt/light gravel. But I only do it to correct my angle, because having your front tire skid while turning and clipped in is a bit scary to say the least.

ken cummings 06-26-07 09:34 PM

When I was young and foolish I did strange things. Drifting was not one of them unless I was on my trike.

Winter76 06-26-07 09:43 PM

When it's wet i can do that a bit in the parking garage at work.

thelazywon 06-26-07 09:59 PM

much better

Never done it before. Tho it doesn't surprise me this stuff exsists. Looks very cool. I personally won't do it unless SixSixOne was sponsoring me with full gear on and only going slow.

Makes me want to unfred the bike and get the MadMax gear on and try it out once I can afford a full face helmet.

pedalMonger 06-26-07 10:51 PM

Damn that looks like fun. I used to do something similar with a trail motorcycle when I was a kid. I did something similar to that on a cloverleaf freeway ramp on a street motorcycle too....by accident, wasn't familiar with the ramp, was going too fast and started losing control, but fortunately I reflexively remembered how to do a controlled skid from riding on trails. Was lucky too, came close to going down.

Anyway, that makes me want to get a fixie to goof off on :) Never too old to have a second childhood!

livewirerc 06-26-07 11:25 PM

When I'm riding my fixed gear after work and tearing around the local hike n' bike trail I'll drift the corners and slide around all over the place. It's a blast and it's on hard-pack dirt so it doesn't completely destroy y tires. Good times. Another similar fixed gear (and kiddie BMX) maneuver is the power slide.

And the man is rocking a basket and fenders too, hell yeah.

Yeah, but consider what might befall the young daredevil if his (I assume not her) face was recognised by the local authorities. My guess is not just a traffic ticket ...

ItsJustMe 06-27-07 07:43 AM

It's not drifting unless it's under power. What they're doing is called "skidding".

Cromulent 06-27-07 07:48 AM

I'm slightly jealous of that guy's fearlessness, his skills, and his tire budget.

acroy 06-27-07 08:28 AM

that boy has mad skillz!
i do it a little bit on occasion.... and with nowhere near as much grace.

For locking up the tire he sure isn't slowing down much!
