ey everyone, I am looking for a route for tomorrow morning from Redwood City to Emeryville. I need to be there around 8 and then I need to ride back around 5. Anyone have any ideas? I am a little nervous just because I know there is the potential to go through some less than nice neighborhoods. Also, I'm not looking for a super challenging climbing route, just one to get me to my meeting without stinking up the joint. And lastly, how long do you think it should take, I usually cruise my morning commute around 15 mph, but this is a little longer than I normally do. Thanks, I also posted this in NorCal

I would ride to Millbrae, get on the BART, and take that to Emeryville. You can't ride across the bay bridge, so if you want to ride the whole route, you have to ride across 92 into Hayward, and up from there.

A quick check with google maps marks this route as 40 miles long, each way.

If you do it at your normal 15mph, then it will take you 2 hours and 40 minutes. If you go faster, you will get sweatier, which is what you're trying to avoid.

A BART ticket from Millbrae to Berkeley is $4.25, and takes just barely over an hour.

notfred is wrong on the bridge. San Mateo-Hayward (route 92) is no bikes. Dumbarton (route 84 is the way across the bay on bike.

Whichever would be shorter/quicker/easier - either Redwood City to Fremont across the Dumbarton or Redwood City to Milbrae - then onto BART.

I have commuted across the Dumbarton many times and it is not a tough climb.

Check the map for your best route.

Oops, wrong bridge. Either way, taking 84 instead of 92 is still 40 miles, so I'd still take BART.

I just can't take the bike on Bart through the city at that hour.
