Blowing out sidewalls

I have been having the worst luck with tires lately.
I the space of a month I blew out 3 tires. Through the sidewalls next to
the bead of the tire. The tires were brand new IRC Metro II slicks.
I just got a new Novara Safari and today I blew out the sidewall
on the rear tire on it.It was the stock tire on it. A Continental touring I think.
Only had about 1000 miles on it.What are some suggestions for good tires that will
not keep blowing out the sidewalls?BTW I''m 6 feet and 240 lbs.And I really don't lug
a lot of gear on my commutes, about 10 lbs maybe.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

The two sidewall blowouts I've had in my life were when the brakes slipped out of adjustment and wore weak spots in the sidewalls. Have you checked to see if some bike part is out of position? I've had tire so old and crumbled in the sidewalls that only the cords were left. No blowouts. I am 5'11" and counting the commuting load nearly your weight. I always use tires rated for touring or commuting, not racing. Thick rubber sidewalls might help.

I've checked to see if anything is rubbing and nothing rubs.
Are there any good tires with thick rubber sidewalls?
Are the Nashbar town and country touring tires any good??
