WHOOOHOOO: Craigslist Miracle Deal
So I just got back from meeting a seller who had posted on Craiglist early this morning.
Total Loot: 2 almost new pairs of Shimano m520 pedals, 2 almost new Sram pg970 cassettes, 1 brand new trek wireless computer
Total Cost: $50
It pays to watch craigslist!

Could be. But, at least around here, all the thieves seem to be crackheads who have no idea what they've stolen. Anyone who can cogently advertise a cassette or clipless pedals is (hopefully) not a thief.
Pedals and wireless computer do seem like easy items to steal. But cassette?? Who steals cassettes?

Or a parted-out wheel, for that matter -- I see a lot of bikes locked by the top tube and missing one or both wheels around here. Not to rain on the O.P.'s parade too much!

Nah, the seller goes through lots of parts. I've bought several things from him. I thought about picking up one of those SRAM cassettes .

That's kind of what I suspected... we have some of those guys in the DC area too. Middle-aged roadies who have way too much money to spend on bikes, and get bored of their stuff quickly and then happily sell it off cheap to us cash-strapped young guys. Like the guy who sold me a pair of Mavic Helium wheels in good condition ($500-ish new), with 9-speed Ultegra cassette, and two Conti tires for... $75! Hooray for other people's disposable income

If you're not hard up, it's better sell low. That way, you spend practically no time or effort selling and someone else gets a great deal. Everyone is happy.
