2008 Jamis Bikes

Anyone know when the 2008 models will be available in stores? In particular, the Coda Sport...

anubee 09-18-07 12:05 AM

Check out the website - 2008 models are listed

gbcb 09-18-07 12:31 AM

Sweet! Thanks for the heads-up, anubee!

Junkdad 09-18-07 05:30 AM

Yeah! The Jamis Aurora Elite meets all my spec wants except one

Steel frame and fork (fork is carbon)
105 or better (105 w/ ultegra rear der)
triple (yes!)
room for racks and fenders (check)

Looks like i may need to pull the trigger. Unfortunately, I already put down a $200 deposit at another LBS for the Poprad. I hope they will let me rescind (I hadn't decided on disc or not yet, so they still haven't placed the order).

The proprad is cool but I don't like the low-spoke count wheels or the double in front.

I like the new fork on the bicycle formerly known as Nova -- a.k.a. the Aurora Elite. I love my Nova, but it would be really cool to be able to run a standard front rack.

M_S 09-18-07 09:40 AM

Aurora Elite is actually last year's Nova rebadged with a triple, and the fork has eyelets for a lowrider rack. Cool! I think they recognized how most people were actually using the Nova, and equipped it accordingly.

Aurora looks unchanged except for the seat and tires. (It's a huge, ugly seat too, I've seen it in person). Even the paint color stays more or less the same on that bike. True for '06 as well.

I like what they did with their cross frames. They're racier but have a little practicality to them. It's cool that they hung Tiagra on a pretty classy frame for the Nova Pro, which lets someone get a complete, rideable bike that's got a very upgradeable platform if they want to go higher end in the future.

All that remains to be seen is whether they're prices will still rock.

They dropped the Eclipse :(

I noticed thtat too, but honestly, I never got the point of that bike. It was marketed as a steel bike, yet it was really just a take on old school carbon construction with steel lugs. At that point, the steel is purely for show, I think.

The Aurora Elite should make Specialized nervous, as it's now a pretty direct competitor to the Tricross.

^ It was pretty though... = (
It seemed like weights changed some when spec didn't really. Anyone notice that?

Weight isn't set in stone... perhaps they were measuring different sized frames.

And Lemond has a similarly constructed bike (steel/carbon). Lemonds are pretty, oggle at that. Jamis is for riding :D

I saw some 2008 Jamis bikes outside the LBS store front in the afternoon today :D

<Waiting impatiently for someone to buy an Aurora Elite and post bike pr0n>

Mr. Jim 09-19-07 07:47 AM

The single speed looks sweet

ontheroadid 09-19-07 12:14 PM

What's the Aurora Elite retailing for (U.S.)? Or the Satellite? Downloaded the catalog but did not see prices listed.

M_S 09-20-07 04:01 PM

No prices yet- I would guess the Aurora Elite is int he 1100-1300 range. Probably the lower end of that spectrum, as it is Jamis.

They also added a line of flat bar road bikes that would seem to overlap the Codaline quite a bit. Except that the Codas are steel whereas the new ones ar eyour basic Al/CF.

gbcb 09-20-07 08:48 PM

The old Nova was listed at 1,300, so I'd be surprised if the Aurora Elite came in under that -- if only because it's 105/Ultegra now, instead of just 105.

Junkdad 09-20-07 09:00 PM

I was quoted about 1500-1600 for the Jamis Aurora Elite, it has nice componentry, 105 and ultegra.

My lbs will not stock the bike but will special order it since they deem it's not much of a seller.

Anybody else notice the new 2008 inventory? Haven't seen any in the LBS yet. I really want to get the Commuter 3 WSD for my woman, it looks like the perfect bike for her...

M_S 10-04-07 04:44 PM

The Aurora Elite may have a better rear derailleur than the old Nova, but it's also rolling on Tiagra hubs, so I'd be dissapointed if it really is much more than the Nova was.

M_S 10-04-07 04:51 PM

Edit: oops

ontheroadid 11-16-07 01:21 PM

Found an '08 model price list: http://universitycyclery.com/13jamisprice.html

The Aurora Elite lists for $1,350 in Austin, TX.

gbcb 11-17-07 01:52 AM

The Jamis Web site seems to be properly updated now.

Jurgen 11-17-07 09:41 AM

No MSRP on the Cnd site. I'm waiting (impatiently) to see if I can afford the '08 Coda.

oharescrubs 11-18-07 10:09 AM

we just got in 08 jamis's. weve got new aurora's, aurora elites, supernova (with sram rival damn!) and nova pro, as well as coda comps in. like how last year they changed the coda sport to 4130, they eliminiated the coda pro, and brought the coda elite down from 631 to reynolds 520... sorta sucks, because i thought that if you were gonna spend money for a commuter the coda elite was where its at. I like the aurora elite, but i dont feel like it has the cross feel of the nova...
