Done some research on locks and decided to buy these 2.
 

I will leave the chain at my workplace and carry the U Lock around with a long Kryptonite Kryptoflex 7ft to secure the wheels.

What do you think? Are these the best options I have?

None of those locks are very high quality. You might want to pool your money and buy one top quality lock. Look at the Abus Granit 54 for a more serious U-lock.

Seven feet is a bit long to lock up both of your wheels. I can get both wheels and my saddle with cable to spare with a six foot cable.

Thanks I will probably get a shorter cable then but still thinking about the spending more on locks.

Then spend more on high end locks, not mid-range ones.

You really should get a top of the line one if you have the money to spend.

How are cheap chain locks where the chain is actually thicker then an Abus chain for example?

They are significantly lower in price but do they also lack the strength and quality?

IS it on either of the lists of locks I posted links to? No, it isn't and chances are it's rubbish. Cheap out on tubes or something else, not a lock.

+100. If you really want to give your bike away, there are plenty of charities that would be happy to take it for people who cannot afford a bike and need help.
