fork issues

hi everyone

french commuter speaking

i am looking for a rigid fork for a hybrid lapierre bike, to replace the original sr-suntour nex 4100

i am riding about 10 miles daily in a rather dense urban environment, yet the suspension fork feels a bit numb and the locking system is lousy. I don't do off-road riding so i have little use for suspension... i am trying to gain speed and kick for my bike setting (aluminium frame, 700 wheels, Vbrakes)

i have looked around and found that Surly might have something that fits my needs; other than that the kona project 2 seems to be also a good deal.

any advanced commuter's advice about choosing the right commuting fork would be great

many thanks

I have a Kona with a Project 2 and a Surly. You won't go wrong with either one.

I'm thinking of picking up a project 2 for one of my bikes. It looks nice.

If you want a front rack though, a surly long haul trucker fork would be just the ticket.

I did the very thing you are attempting to do. I bought the Nashbar touring fork and got it for $39 bucks. The bike shop cut it down and installed it for me for about $30. I've been very happy with it and I saved about 5 lbs.

Heres the Nashbar link:https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...%20ATB%20Forks

thanks for your replies, I have ordered a kona project 2...

24h later, bike got stolen... paris is unforgiving for callousness

so i am now looking for a forkless commuting bike that would go with the P2...
