I got my stock cross-check from another Mike at Big Shark Bike Shop. I also recommend B&RS too since I know one of their wrenches. I have also noticed that I haven't been to my bike shop as much ;0). Just lovin' my cross-check bought in March of this year. I plan on sharing my pic when I get a chance to upload it. Glad there are many other fellow, happy cross-check owners out there. It seams there should be a special forum just for surly owners ;0)

I'd like to see pics of your CC when you have time.

Very very nice and clean! You'll need to work on that. All black like my "black sheep" road bike. Don't let DigitalGee (DG) find out - he favors white bikes and calls ours anti-bikes.

For those who asked, here are the pics of my crosscheck from last September. It doesn't look quite so shiny but she rides like a dream.

I'll have to repost pix of mine in about a month and a half when we move. Our new place has a garage, so I can pose a 'proper' picture of my bike in front of a white garage door.

That's a lovely bike...I'm glad this got resurrected, because I must have missed it the first time around.

Thanks for all of the nice comments.
BTW, just for accuracy's sake, I switched out the Avid Shorty 4's for Tektro Oryx brakes. They don't squeek and are also more responsive.

I had Shorty 4s for a brief while...they shrieked like a banshee. Next time I go for cantis I'll keep in mind Oryx.

I run Avid Shorty 6's with Kool Stop Salmon pads on my cross-check. I heard the Avid Wrangler stock pads shrieks. Turns out the Kool Stop Salmon pads squeaks like crazy. After a couple months, I finally couldn't take it anymore and went to look for a solution. After toeing in the brakes a little more the squeaks have subsided.
