sweet bike :)
|
Sounds like a great day. Love the bike. :)
|
...so what did the kid get? No pictures?
Nice Amsterdam, though. :) |
It must be a fun bike to ride. Unfortunately you can never park that bike in public cause it will will get surrounded by flowers and wreaths and cyclists crying "it's so sad... we lost another one."
|
Wow... that bike is purty! My wife would be jealous! *hides the screen so she can't see it*
The only thing she wouldn't like is the gears... she needs lots of gears for all the hills around here. |

They make an 8 speed version
My soon to be sister-in-law got herself one of these. It's an 8 speed and she loves it. http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u.../omafiets6.jpg |

Nice Amsterdam, though. :) They only have a 3 speed as far as I knew. We don't have anything around here that we can't handle with 3 speeds so it was just fine for us :) unkchuck- That one went right over my head- you'll have to explain if you want me to get it:o Perfect day for a nice long ride on our favorite MUP- the chehalis western trail Sunny blue skies, cool crisp air, leaves turning color(and falling!) riding bikes. She absolutely loves it http://www.bikerubbish.com/photos/sept2007/right7.jpg I was a little taken with it myself, so I had her get a photo http://www.bikerubbish.com/photos/sept2007/right6.jpg |

I was apparently mistaken. I could've sworn they offered more than 3 speed though. Maybe they removed that option?
Catalog here: http://www.electrabike.com/06_new/do...G_FULL_REV.pdf |
Wow--love the pic of your wife on the Amsterdam, BAH. What a great setting. I'm jealous, since I can't get my wife to ride with me. She's just not into it, even though she's excersizing daily. :) I'll invite her on a nice fall ride in a couple of weeks, when the leaves change, and see what happens.
I flipped though that Electra catalogue, and am impressed. This new line of Amsterdam bikes seems to be growing!!! Love it! Donnamb--what make bike is it, the one with your sister-in-law to be? |

My soon to be sister-in-law got herself one of these. It's an 8 speed and she loves it. http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u.../omafiets6.jpg I dig them. even planned on saving enough to get an 8 spd one. Sadly, they went up some $200+ in the last few months at the shop! Now I am looking for alternative places that I can purchase one for closer to a grand. Any idea how the bike has operated on hills? The 8spds enough for trips to my area of SE PDX with a few hills? I cannot recall what brand bike these Dutch commuters are? I know of Azor, Batavus, jorg and olif, & a few other names I cannot recall at the moment? anyone know which modles tend to be the better made and all around best Dutch? Is the lighter wieght slightly sportier and newer models still give the Mercedez like ride of the heavier Dutch, while remaining very practical? |
