Almost hit a skunk this A.M.

I was lucky on the commute this morning. Riding along a country-ish road by our community center around 5:40 or so and it happened. Something black and white scurried / waddled / ran out from the left side of the road into my headlight beam right in front of me. Travelling about 22 mph, I had to make a split second decision once I recognized what it was.....

Swerve in front of it and hope to slip past before it met me,
or swerve behind it and hope it kept going and wasn't scared enough to spray me as I went by.

I chose the latter, and luckily, it continued on its way and did not spray its' nasty load at me.

Needless to say, I was sweating more from that encounter than from the ride itself!!

Came across a skunk in the road that held his ground. I stopped to see if he would amble away, but he stared me down and started to stamp his front feet.

I figured I would just take a different route that day...and backed away...

That almost happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

Then not too long ago at a different location I saw skunk roadkill. Boy did it stink. The weird part was that the skunk's white stripe was almost in line with the white dash lines on the road.
