Gonna get cold in Seattle tonight

Looks like the first freeze of the season tonight in places where there is supposed to be some fog. Should be in interesting ride. I hate fog I'd much rather ride in the rain I seem to get claustrophobic in the fog. Did I spell claustro whatever it is right?

Just heard that on the news. My fingers got pretty cold this morning. Time to dig up the warm gloves. BTW...what do you think about neoprene gloves for those 37 and pissin' days? NRS has some nice ones for kayaking and such.

I got out the warm gloves and SmartWool undies for the ride in this morning! Well, one thing about long rides...eventually you warm up. I was still pitted out when I got to work.

cold? yeah, but at least the roads won't be slick and frozen. Doubtful we'll see Black ice tomorrow. maybe later in the year.

I used the neoprene bike gloves from MEC all last winter up in Vancouver and they worked very well. The only problem is that they can get mighty stinky.

The thing I hate about frosty weather here is the black ice on the roads. Keep your eyes open for it.

Yippee.

I hope those wool gloves I bought from the local Goodwill store will keep my hands warm

I used my wool liners the I got from the army navy store for 2 bucks and my canari windproof gloves and I was fine. I have neoprene booties and my feet were toasty warm just over sneakers with wool socks

Wasn't bad at all on the way in. Perhaps a little cool, but not unbearable. After 15 or 20 min, I hardly noticed.

Not too many other bikes out this morning, though.

About the wool socks, I managed to score 4 pairs of Wool hiking-style socks from COSTCO (the one in Southcenter/Tukwila) for just $9.99 plus tax. That's the price BIG 5 charges for 2 pairs of Cotton hiking-style socks. Last time I was at COSTCO, they still had tons of sock packs leftover to buy.

I rarely ever have to use more than 2 pairs for a whole month, since they don't stink. I just wash 'em when they start looking dirty.

I wonder if any other WA staters found 'em yet? They're very comfy, especially when I pair the wool socks with my Chucks

We had frost yesterday but not this morning. I am really missing the full-finger gloves I misplaced in the offseason, I have to say, right now.

Looks like a 37*F start for my shot at a century tomorrow. Brrrrrrr! I think I'll be starting out with long gloves, long jersey, helmet liner and light base layer. Maybe I ought to hit up Costco on the way home and look for those wool socks!

If they're thick enough should work very well. Great for keeping the water out, should be fine for 37 degrees. I have a pair of old neoprene dive boots that I busted out the last couple of days. Been working great for dry feet.

I wore cargo shorts with leggings amd a wool shirt over a polo, after all it is "casual Friday". Now I can roll up my wool shirt and stuff them and my laegging in my bag for the ride home.
