KHS Flite 500 Good?

I'm new to cycling and considering a 2004 KHS Flite 500 for $350. I can't find a lot of info on the bike, but do know it's got Shimano Ulteg/ Tiarga components. Any thoughts on the brand/bike? Thanks.

If it's in pristine shape that's a great deal. If it has normal use from 3-4 years that sounds about right, unless it has major mech. issues.

Do you want a road bike to commute on? You may or may not find a ful-blown roadie well suited to commuting. What do you want from a bike?

I have a Giant Cypress hybrid that i got for cheap. It worked well for short ride at first, but now I have a 7 mile commute each way. The hybrid feels so much slower than road bikes i've been on, so that's the reason.

That sounds like a decent deal. My LBS sells lots of KHS bikes and from what I've seen, they make a decent bike at a decent price. I take it that this is a used bicycle? If so, definitely give it the once over and make sure it hasn't been crashed, the shifters all work well, etc. Don't forget to check out other big ticket items like wheels and tires and saddle and make sure that they're all in good shape. If you're looking to carry gear with you on a commute, be sure that you have a way to attach said gear to the bike -- specifically, are there braze ons for racks (if not, you can improvise).

If possible, take it to a shop and have them give a look at it. They'll let you know if there's anything horribly wrong with it or if it's as good a deal as it sounds.

Good luck with it!

It is used and I'm deff. gonna inspect it closely. I'll update when/if I pick it up tonight.

Thanks for the pointers.
