Fun ride roday

Went to REI to pick up Smartwool socks at 25% off and the entire ride home sleet was blowing in from the North as I was going East. The sting from the sleet on my face took the pain away from my legs and I was able to get home in no time. Although when I got home my jeans from the knee down were soaked, Portland fenders didn't do much for me there. Fun ride, though.

First snow of the year, too.

It was sleeting on the way out the door at work a couple of days ago. A coworker was out there getting her smoke, and said "Don't ride, I'll have Joe give you a ride home!" I told her "Hey, this is just sleet. I've headed out in grape-sized hail before, and never gave it a 2nd thought." I wasn't going to try to explain that I actually love inclement weather. If it's not going to be 80 degrees, mild sun and a tailwind, I'd just as soon it was snowing or something. Or at least a nice heavy rain.

I think it's time to get some good rain pants though. The $10 cheapo running pants I've been riding in for 3 years have started to split at the seams.

I can't wait for snow. We had a bit, but it only stuck around for an hour. Not enough. What's the point of moving to Montana if there's no snow? All of this rain makes me feel like I'm back in Portland.

Smartwool rocks.

I am already anticipating spring. 'nuff said
Group rides.
Organized rides.
Shorts!
Half nekkid lady joggers.

However, if I can manage to find a mountain bike winter commuting may be a tad more enjoyable. I am thinking about an old abused bike that I can lock downtown. My current bikes are targets for bike thieves.
