Light stops in cold weather?

Does anyone else have problems with their LED front lights working in cold weather? I ride in the city so the lighting is set to strobe for visibility (it's a Nashbar 3-LED light). I thought maybe it was the batteries, so I replaced them this morning and it worked for about a minute, then stopped. It worked fine once I was in the office. Anyone ever heard of them not working in 20F weather?

Might be the batteries going in the cold. Batteries don't like it - that's why mountaineering lights have battery packs on long leads, so the packs can be put inside clothing.

IT may also be moisture, if you store the light inside in the heat, then take them out to the cold the moisture will condense and possible cause and electrical issue.

I think it must have been the humidity. I opened it up and aired it out all day yesterday, and this morning I didn't have a problem. Thanks.

Not really. I have a Nashbar 5 LED light. It's a backup to my HID, so I don't use it all the time, but I run it on NiMH rechargables and certainly used it down to pretty cold temps last year (at least 0*F - I rode at -25*F but I couldn't tell you for sure that I used the LED then).

Thanks for the advice. I will have to try to air out my light. It has been very dim these last two days, but inside it is nice and bright. I just did a test run and the light stayed bright for 2 hours, where as on my commute this morning, when I got to work (40 minutes) the light was very dull.

I've seen way more of these types of posts than normal so far this year. I have never had any trouble with any battery other than my cell phone in temps down to -5F.
