Greenville, SC commuters?

I am interviewing for a job in Greenville, SC and wanted to know if anyone on the board here commutes in Greenville, SC. Since I live in NW Houston suburbs and commute about 13 miles, I am only assuming I can pan out a 10-12 mile radius from the job site to commute. Anything I should be aware about? The good, the bad, the ugly?

Thanks!

I don't live there, only ridden there. Greenville, SC is like Austin, TX- a cycling sanctuary in redneck hell. Heck, George Hincapie moved there to train, and the US Pro road racing, and time trial, championships are held there over Labor Day weekend. Check with the guys at The Great Escape.

I realize this tread is ancient but I have to ask just in case you still check in here. So....how'd it go? Did you move to GVL? Figure out how to commute? Or changed you mind?

Thanks.

Bikeforums says his last activity here was in 2011.

He was riding along when a pick-up truck with wide stance drove by him on a narrow road, and he died of fright.

He moved to Greenville and hung up his bikes for good is my theory. So no need coming back to a bicycle forum. I heard he's now on a BMW auto forum.

Dan, you should know that Joey has been regaling us with tales of the hellish nee apocalyptic nature of ... I can't really call it cycling, in Greenville. Maybe you should have let sleeping threads lie, because you now have to explain this wide discrepancy. We're waiting.

The question was directed at you, actually. My bad to not be more clear. Anyway, you've answered quite competently. I did ask you once why you moved there, but I think you answered that too. So, it is what it is I guess. Me and mine do not regret moving 3,400mi. from NYC (cycling, economic, Purgatory) to PDX (cycling, economic ... Sustainable), just saying.
