Bad Weather--Lab Closed!

I have to leave work at 3 pm today, because of "bad" weather!

IMO, this is a feather in the cap for my bike commuting days. I've worked here 24 years, yet I only remember the lab closing 3 or 4 times previously.

If I can go out gallavanting around in the modest snow we got at lunch, then we could stay open for the full day. It's snowing pretty hard but there can't be more than 6 inches on the ground. Goofy. Yet, I'm not complaining! I'll enjoy my early leave.

Too bad I don't have my camera today--for my extended ride home on the metropark MUP!

Little wind and 20 deg F. Not too bad. 2 to 5 more inches expected this afternoon.

Fun times - I envy you. No snow or ice at all this winter in north Texas, dammitt. Came close once or twice but no such luck.
Cheers

Akron General even sent Cheri home early...that is rare indeed! Ain't much snow, but it seems the road crews shot their wad last night and can't keep up with it today. I'm working from home today...but I'll take a ride on the unplowed streets once I get my driveway blown a little later.

Wusses!
Half my coworkers in Milwaukee made it into the office with 18inches of snow at -30F.
Those Wisconsinites do tend to exaggerate a tad.

Us wimpy Denverites just work from home at the mere site of snow.

I wish I could get a snow day. Since I'm considered an "essential" employee (ie involved in emergency response) no matter how nasty it gets I'm expected to be at my desk. - sigh -

Cute. We still have to come to work, but they will delay the start a couple of hours or send us home an hour or two early, in response to bad weather. I think there's been one day in my years here that we got the whole day off, and strangely enough, that was on April Fool's Day about 10 to 15 years back. Naturally, I was on travel.

A couple weeks ago, we went home early to get ahead of some snow. I think somebody's wife said that "it's starting to stick," so they thought it would just get worse.

We didn't get a LICK of snow.

Two days later, we got hit pretty good with an inch or two (and DC, with its idiot drivers using balding "all-season" tires, turns to driving hell with that little snow), and at least a couple people couldn't get to work at all. We didn't have a delayed start, and I'm not even sure that we went home early, either.
