I am ashamed that I'm once again giving some semblance of legitimacy to your angry rants by replying, but this will be the last time.
I say this at the risk of alienating the few "friends" you have here...people who clearly possess glacial patience and saintly compassion to put up with you. Here we go. Tedious invective snipped. Cheers! |

Now how do I loose a temper? Was it too tight? Then it would be loosen. |

This message is hidden because iltb-2 is on your ignore list.
Edit: And I rarely let loose my temper :D |

Contrarians make things interesting on forums. What we do not need is a bunch of folks standing around agreeing with each other all the time.

Hence the reason we have an ignore list. There are times I would put myself on it but...?

Yes. However posts like #56 in this thread happening all too much is why the original ILTB joined my ignore list. It got very rare that ILTB had anything constructive or destructive to say.

Pretty funny that a satire thread about the most invective-inducing topics on this board got turned into a flame-fest.

What makes it more foolish is that as The Historian stated, I did loose my temper. And to make it worse, I knew I was loosing my temper, and I chose to go ahead and loose it despite that knowledge. So, ultimately, that makes me look even worse.

I appreciate his posts- even when I disagree or find their tone on the sharper side- they often keep me from taking myself too seriously or thinking that how I do things is the way everyone should do them.
And for those whose tastes differ there is always the ignore list but I'd say you're missing some good stuff- and, if nothing else, entertaining exchanges. :) In reference to the emphasis added line above...there are very few things that I do that I think everyone should do. Those things pretty much are limited to visibility (take measures to be very visible in the dark, ninja cyclists!!!!) and riding on the street. Like many though, I have lots of techniques which I feel are best for me, and thusly like to share. ILTB, with his as mentioned persecution complex, seems to believe that every opinion different from his own is both a personal attack, and an earnest effort to forcibly shape others into a form of cyclist that he has built up and mythologized into a mentally fleshed out nemesis and handy straw-man. To all, my apologies for my angry outburst...I did loose my temper. This was supposed to be a funny thread... |
Hahaha... I commute on pure aluminium and Shimano... and have an old touring bike with steel frame and mix of components..... But, I'm pondering on a steel frame with campy for road....

I dunno, I think the commuting forum is nice, tame and friendly.
Remember the old A&S forum - yikes! If you are still looking for a knock-down drag-out catfight, well, just check out some of the "what is the best oil, grease, lube for your hubs, headset or chain" in the bicycle mechanics forums. |

This was supposed to be a funny thread... The Silly Sigmund Freud imitation, complete with psycho babble analysis of me (full of complexes and wacky motivations) for not agreeing with the Banzai Wit and Wisdom is a classic! Especially when it is offered up as an explanation/apology for your own previous bizarre temper tantrum on this thread. |

I am older than many on this thread, but not all (go to the 50+ Thread) on this forum, and am amused at the inability of many of us to laugh at ourselves or better yet laugh with someone else. After all, it isn't all about "My Feelings". Many seem to be very thin skinned and do not have the ability to agree to disagree in a mature manner and keep to the spirit of the sport, which is all about FUN.
