Speedo goggles

after much trial and error in eye protection from cold and wind i have found my solution, I know this has been talked about before i figured I'd post to help anyone thats in my situation. also I got the clear ones

I bought mine at target for 11.99

i tried safty glasses (free from work), due to the balaclava, being up my nose they fogged bad, rubbed soap or potatoe or any other home remidy, no good

tried safty goggles ($6 home depot, can you tell I'm cheap?), works ok if over 40F ,$50 ski goggles was my next step, but they might be to bulky and interfere with my helmet and what if they don't work????

i told the wife I was going to get swim goggles and she just about fell out the car laughing, i figured since I am already lit up like christmas and more reflective than a mirror, who cares what i look like. took then out today and they really worked great.

Look like effective B.C. glasses if nothing else...;)

I know you're wanting to go the inexpensive route, but Bugz originals are a similar yet slightly more fashionable solution if you're looking for something less geeky looking. I used to wear them snowboarding all the time, and never had a fogging problems with them.

I use ski goggles, and they have not fogged down to -3F. I think I paid around $50 a few years ago for them.

If the speedos work for you, go for it!

You don't suppose this will start a different kind of speedo trend for commuting, do you?? ;)

sorry to disapoint no speedo trend here just the goggles, the wife already tells people i wear speedo's riding, now i guess thats true.

if these fog, i'll suck it up and get ski goggles for $50, we'll see, for the next 3 days in the am it will be 15 degrees on the way in.

I love the fact that your wife tells people that you wear speedos while commuting. That's awesome!

I'll have to think of something witty to edit this post with tomorrow... What can i say? I'm slow ;)

Hmmm, wearing speedos while commuting, might make the summers here more bearable. :)

I am new around here but has anyone thought of the skydiving goggles/glasses?

Don't take it personally if people refer to you as aqua boy.

Intheloonybin 01-23-08 04:03 PM

Now tie that in with the "shrinkage" episode since it is cold... :D

BA Commuter 01-23-08 05:39 PM

Sorry J&L, I personally think there are alternatives that get the job done better and also keep me from looking like Uncle Marty or Georgie Boy!

Good luck!

joshandlauri 01-23-08 06:02 PM

I really hope the wife doesn't come here, then she will call "aqua boy" with the superhero power of "shrinkage"

also they are clear, unless you are less than 10 feet away you can't tell I'm wearing them, either way I still look like a neon sign w/goggles, I don't think I can get worse.
