Performance Metro
I decided to go the pannier route since my commute is doubling and I can't keep a weeks worth of clothes at the new job. I am going to miss having a washer and dryer at work. I went into the local Performane yesterday and they were having a heck of a sale. I was just going to get new lights and ended up getting a seatpost rack and the Metro pannier/messenger bag. I couldn't say no when the price was 50% off regular, and I spent less than $80 on the bag, a seat post rack for it and a new Bulldog lock. (didn't get the lights, they were out of what I wanted) Anyone use this bag? Thoughts? Is it going to hold up to 25 miles RT daily for me? Thanks.

BDP, I picked up the Metro bag as well for $29.99. I have a short ride (6 miles) and it works fine to hold a light jacket, coffee thermos, my lunch, newspaper and a few tools.
However, I'm not so happy with the strap system they provided. So, I added a bungee and strap it to the bottom bracket of my Topeak rack for added stability. It's easier to unhook and throw the longer strap over my shoulder and head into the office.

For that price discount, if it doesn't work out it was a relatively inexpensive "gamble". I'm still using my cheap "this will cover me until I get a nice replacement" panniers three years later. They're not Metros, but probably of similar quality.
