Great article! I seems very true about what life is like in Copenhagen, which I spent almost 2 weeks visiting in 2003. It was a life changing event for me and gave me the itch to get rid of my car and live with only my bikes. While I was there, my cousin, her family and dozens of friends loaded all kinds of gear on all the bikes (I rented one) and went camping outside the city for a few nights! It was unbelievable how much stuff, food and drinks (Carlsberg beer) we hauled for a hour and half to the woods, a lot more than I had while car camping here!! I was the only one amazed at the bike culture, for the Dans, it was just life! In the city I saw furniture, home building materials, carpets, dogs & cats, friends and family, tvs, boats, ladders, etc. hauled around by bike!!! Of course, even with their rich diets, the Dans are a lot healthier than us mostly FAT Americans. I continue to gain a little bit weight, not inches, since the car was history and can eat most anything I want. The bike is the best invention ever!!

With America's cities which are built for the automobile, and non existent bike infrastructure, it's not that easy here. Looking at the pictures i can only envy them, but nothing similar will happen here anytime soon. Not with 6 lane 40 mph roads full of impatient people.
