Single Speed Chainguard?
 

Anybody know of a high quality, total encasement for a single speed chain? I've searched, but found little.

On this side of the pond, there is the Hebie Chainglider, which you can get here:

The Hebie looks awesome, but I have a 42T front ring. Is there a way to make one of the options fit or will I have to resign to getting a new ring if I want one?

Woah, those Dutch items are cool, and cheap! I'm going to seriously investigate those for my online commuter/utility shop.

Hebie makes a chainglider for 42T, with the Rohloff Speedhub in mind. You have to order it from Canada, however:

These things have much drag or what?

The Dutch ones shouldn't, if they are anything like the ones I rode when I grew up in the Netherlands, because they are not hanging on the chain like the Hebie does (I believe)
Drawback of the Dutch ones is that they are typically heavier than a Hebie

Dutch Bikes US now carries Sogreni bikes.
Sogreni makes a cool minimalist chaingurad (their website is down) that is just a bent bar. Good looking.

I would like a more objective review. After how many miles commuting with a case in a rainy climate would the 25th rivet work itself past a 16th of an inch? How often was the chain cleaned? How was it cleaned? Is there an uncased chain of a similar model that went through similar variables (+gear inches, cadence) to compare that to?

I guess it's like comparing grease injection pedals, hubs, headsets, etc to the non injection types, or plastic/polymer seals with metal ones. Overhauls are still necessary throughout all the options, but after how much use? Is it enough to be worth the investment?
