3Bikes and the Solvang Century
Hi everyone...
My Globe 6 IG8 was in the shop this weekend for it's one-month-or-so tune up. After things get broken in a little bit (380+miles), adjustments to cables, bolts, cranks and such. After I dropped off the bike on Friday I drove up to Santa Barbara (where we stayed) and onto Solvang for final registration in the Solvang Century.
4:30am on Saturday morning, I get my stuff ready and get to Solvang by 5:45. Put myself together and took off on the ride at about 6:30. My Garmin thing shows 7hrs14mins, 101.8 miles at the finish. (My first century). Sure I had a cramp in my right quad at 82 miles, but I really think it would have been much harder had it not been for commuting several days a week by bike. I can feel the difference in my endurance on a 20 pound road bike. Going only 8.5 miles to work tomorrow is going to be a breeze!

Congrats on your first century! That is something to be extremely proud of.
I plan on doing my first one this summer so I am extremely interested in hearing how they went, as well as the lead up. Other than commuting did you do much training? How much weight were you carrying?
How did your gear hold up? What would you do differently on your next one?
If you`ve got the time, let us know.
