I cheated on my commute today!

Ok so I was coming home from my commute and I decided to take an extra route to hit a big hill that usually kicks my butt. Well A huge oil truck passed me and there were no cars in sight behind him so I caught up to him and rode the draft up the hill. I was amazed at how easy the hill was with the draft. Guess that is what it feels like when your in a pelaton eh?

That's not really cheating any more than riding in a tailwind because vehicles are just an environmental condition. Most of the time, the wind blast from the trucks does more harm than good. Cheating would be accepting a ride.

Yup, it sucks a lot of air! I did that behind a school bus and ended up going as fast as traffic up a hill (~50km/h). But you have to be close, I thought about it after and it would have sucked a lot more (differently!) if the bus had come to a sudden stop. I don't do it anymore :-P

I cheat every day. Just riding with 45mph+ traffic gives an easy ~2mph boost with no need for direct drafting.

I love drafting the semi trucks here. Just don't draft the cattle trucks when they are full

Sometimes I cheat on my commute, but afterwards, I feel so guilty. It's not like my regular commute has done anything wrong - we have a good relationship. Still, sometimes I see some nice curvy pavement that hasn't seen a lot of traffic [if you know what I mean - heh heh], and I just go left when I should go right. I'm not a bad person - I just have needs like anyone else. Don't look at me like that!

It's not cheating till you grab hold of the truck and get towed.

And then it's not cheating, it's awesome

Steve,
J/K, YMMV, etc.
