If you see updates on the cyclist's identity and condition, would you post them here?
If you don't, can we bug the TV station till we do?

jterribili 04-23-08 01:45 PM

absolutely

I will try to check with the station before I leave today

Sadly, she died overnight. Her life lost, his life irreparably damaged due to a foolish mistake. Very sad.

Ugh. This sort of thing makes me so angry. And sick.

I support bikers and try to be very careful around them. However, a week ago, I saw a biker on Falls of Neuse going south during the morning rush hour--that is just plain not a good idea--even cars are in danger because it's so congested. We need to use common sense...SP2G

Hey... there's a comment about me... has to be.

I've left a comment asking him to take an alternate route since he's worried about my safety.

Same old story - irresponsible person murders a cyclist with their car and all the cyclist haters come out of the woodwork.

"accident, bad decision, mistake, bad judgment"............ murder

keisatsu 04-24-08 08:17 AM

That's sad, for both victim and driver, the kid made a very stupid mistake which will haunt him (and the victims family) for the rest of his life.

Was he celebrating his 21st birthday by himself?
If not - who are the people he was celebrating with who let him drive off drunk?

TiberiusBTkirk 04-24-08 09:25 AM

either off to class or still passed out drunk.
There was a news show who did a story on this type of partying, I forgot
what's it's called but the night you turn 21, you drink like crazy.

My 21st was pretty crazy, though I made sure I had a responsible person who was willing to haul a drunken 21 year old from bar to bar and back home (he has videos to prove just how drunk I was, )

WTF... the crash happened before 11am????

I can't believe the comments in that article blaming cyclist. All the classic arguments:

1) I'll give cyclists more rights when they pay taxes!
2) Cyclists shouldn't be on busy roads, cars have to make dangerous maneuvers to pass them!
3) I see cyclists make illegal maneuvers like not stopping at stop signs ALL THE TIME OMG CYCLIST ANARCHY KILL THEM ALL!!!!!

This poor woman was killed by a drunk driver... drunk at 11 in the morning in the middle of the week. Maybe it was incidental that she was on a bike. These comments towards cyclists wouldn't exist if the victim were in a car or walking. I wish people would have better perspective. /sad

Probably still drunk from the night before. I have had guys work for me that would really "tie one on" on a Friday night and still be legally drunk when they showed up for work on Saturday (and no I don't let them work or drive).

My favorite comment: Bikes have a right to be on the roads. Drunk Drivers DO NOT.

This sucks so bad. Someones likely mom or grandma is dead. Where were the people watching out for him on his 21st. I think he should get 10 to 15 without probation but thats not for me to decide.
