Tried my new Illuminite Commuter jacket. Yippeeeeee!!!!

Ok, after getting this nice jacket on sale from Performance for $75, I was really excited.

Even moreso now.

This is really nice for cold/bad weather riding. It was sub 50F, and It allowed me to remove my breathable jacket I wore as a layer undreneath. Now, a Tee, a Terramar fleece base layer, and the commuter jacket is enough to go down to High 30's F if needed. Shweet.

I had no idea I sweat so much.

Once Above 50F, it turns into a slimey oven, so removal of the fleece would be required if using it during warmer days with heavy rain. If using just the jacket and a jersey, you could probably get away with it up to 60F, but I don't bother at that point.

All in all, a good piece of gear, especially for the daily commute.

Luckily, I bought this thing just in time to use it 3 times before the warm weather came.

I wore mine with only underarmour and a Champion C9 long-sleeve thermal top under it in the winter here in Minnesota. I did add a fleece vest when it got below zero.

Today it was rainy and in the low 40's. I was perfect with just the jacket and a long-sleeve shirt on. Plus, the pants are great in the cold, rainy weather too.

Above 50 I just wear a t-shirt under it, and above 60 it is time to just get wet.

i got a performance rain set (+/- $35 1995) that has a distict "steam-room" 'Quality' to it. i also have a gore-tex rain set from performance that out-performs any rain or cold weather riding clothing i have ever had. performance does not sell this design suit anymore.

I don't doubt your set performed better than anything you owned previous. Id just make the statement that you haven't owned the right rain gear then As goretex is far from the top of the hill with respect to breathable rain gear for aerobic activities.

I don't need much under mine in the 40's either - just a thin and medium weight base layer on top. The weathers colder here this weekend, and I'll get another chance to experiment later, but I've been pretty comfortable in mine. I think they need additional zippers perpendicular to the cuffs in the sleeves for ventilation to get some airflow up the arms, other than that I'm still happy with it.
