Woo, Hoo.. Finally arrived, for my big day at work of browsing the web and doing important stuff like watching videos on youtube.:D

Total commute time 60 minutes... (I spent 15 of them messing around taking pictures and getting coffee)
10 KM (rough est)

metaljim 04-29-08 08:57 AM

very cool man. if my commute was more then just one ugly boulevard and a sketchy hwy interchange, i'd add some pics too.

welcome to bike forums, btw.

envane 04-29-08 09:02 AM

Those stairs -- what a waste of potential energy.

DataJunkie 04-29-08 09:03 AM

um.....

Wheel trough? That's what that is? OMG I have one on a pedestrian bridge I use occasionally. Never knew what it was for. Can you ride down it or is it just for carrying a bike?

Nice commute. :)

Voxxy Brown 04-29-08 09:05 AM

Yeah, you just roll it down beside you while you walk down.

JustBrowsing 04-29-08 09:05 AM

Looks like a nice trip. Thanks for posting the pics. Do you ever get the inclination to ride down those steps?

And like metaljim, I'd post pics of my commute if it were anything interesting. (Anyone wanna see pics of Connecticut Ave and 18th St?)

BassNotBass 04-29-08 09:08 AM

Thanks for sharing your commute. Looks like a fun ride.

h37s3m 04-29-08 09:09 AM

Wow, I envy you. You have a very nice variety of what you see. I only get to see a trainyard...and the lake. Maybe I should look around more.

I'll take some pictures too.

I've tobogganed down them drunk before, when I was young and crazy... (4 years ago) :D

They're great.. It's like a mini-triathalon. It's a nice stretch for the legs after doing the biking motion for a while.

stringbreaker 04-29-08 09:14 AM

What do you fabricate? Is that a sheet metal type business?

Yeah, mostly stainless and alum. Of course, I don't do any of that. I'm an office geek. :D

You play music? (Just guessing by your name). I'm a drummer and have a studio in my house.

jamesdenver 04-29-08 09:25 AM

Great pics. I love a combination of leafy green neighborhoods and modern industry.

anastrophe 04-29-08 09:28 AM

that's so cool. I took some pictures like that once for my coworkers (to prove how much more interesting my commute is than theirs) but your commute looks pretty interesting. I mostly have cows.

That view from the top of the escarpment - you might be able to see my building across the bay. I'm in Burlington.

I need to figure out how to get to that rail trail from over here.

RT 04-30-08 04:13 AM

Nice commute, but no pics of the bike? C'mon now

EDIT: No *good* pics of the bike?

Thats cool.. If you map wentworth st. in hamilton you can pick the trail up from the southern most end of that at the base of the escarpment.

heh, I didn't even think of it... I have a Schwinn comfort bike that I bought at Canadian tire for $250. It's actually been a great bike to me for a starter bike, but the components suck and I've just outgrown it. It's being replaced (tommorow to be exact) by the Trek 7.5 FX. Which will be my new cruising/commuting bike. So, admittedly I didn't focus much on the bike. :o

I'll get a pic of the schwinn up before the days out though.

Acoustic guitar for me. two Martins two Gibsons a Guild, a Takamine 12 string from the 70's and a smaller size Martin knockoff. Been plucking around on them since I was a teenager. I'd rather mess around with my bicycles these days and don't play as much as I used to or should.

Are you an engineer? I have a lack of work at work too.

acapybara 05-01-08 10:37 AM

That wheel trough is interesting, never thought of that. Thanks for the commute pics!

ft_critical 05-02-08 06:17 AM

Love the trail part of your commute - I miss that in the city.

Jonahhobbes 05-02-08 06:40 AM

Nice pics :) Looks like a varied commute thanks for sharing!

Actually, we're pretty busy.. I was just kind of making a joke about being lazy. My job is pretty sporadic.. I'll be so busy I can't breathe for 2 hours and then get an hour of nothing, then then the phones start up again, etc. I'm a steel salesman, and one of the shop managers.
