Keep in mind this thread is from 2008 so probably not.

I wouldn't waste a dime on the Giant Escape line I worked at a shop that sold those bikes and they had more problems then the equivalent bike from Specialized at the time. Giant makes really great bikes none of them bear the name Giant on them they just put them out from their factories for other brands who put actual R+D time into their bikes.

I don't think someone could pay me money to ride a Giant Escape 1, 2 or 3. If I needed a wally-mart special that I might find at a bike shop then that would be the bike but so many other options from Specialized and Trek where I could get a lifetime warranty on the frame (and fork at least with Specialized) or way better options for commuting that will cost a little more upfront to save you a lot of time, money and hassle down the road.

I would like to buy a bicycle which will be like Giant transend ex , which bicycle now produced would be the most similar to giant transend ex produced today.

I'm looking for a bike with similar features to the Giant Transend Ex. Please advise.
