Why did I have to look!!!
So, I stopped by my favorite LBS where I bought my Breezer for a looksee since I was thinking about a different bag to fit on my rack. They had in the store probably the most beautiful bike I have ever seen, an ANT roadster. Luckily, not my size but I can't stop thinking about it. It is exactly the bike I have been wishing that someone would make. Please talk some sense into me.

Still not working, but I'm not really a Maui kind of person. Venice I would love but so many tourists.
|
Pff.. A trip lasts a week or two. A bike stays with you for years. The choice is obvious. ;)

The idea of the thread was to talk me OUT of buying another bike remember.

to OP: This thread makes about as much sense as holding an AA meeting in a bar. "My name is Mr. Underbridge, and I'm a bikeaholic. I haven't bought a new bike in two weeks. But on my way home, I saw this awesome cross bike, and...." |
Ah, I thought this was going to be a thread about roadkill...
|
I did see a dead rabbit yesterday on the way home that the crows were enjoying, but somehow that is easier for me to block out.
And I don't think I qualify as a bikeaholic yet. 2 bikes in the last 15 years doesn't really make me an addict. |

Sense about bikes, here? Surely you jest!

$2000. Spend it on a trip to Maui or Venice instead.

Oh, you wanted to be talked out of buying a gorgeous hand built bicycle that with care will last for decades. It that case talk to your co-workers or wife, 'cause you've come to the wrong place here.:D |

That's not a single speed.
I went to a bike fundraiser in Davis Square, Somerville, Mass. a couple days ago and they gave away a beautiful ANT utility bike. Some lucky soul paid $15 for a ticket, which was good for some BBQ and beer, and then they went home with an ANT with all the fixin's. I wanted to win so bad my head hurt. |

Also, if you're turning 40, this could easily qualify for midlife crisis or at least "pre-empty nest" syndrome with the last one going to college in a couple years. My friend's dad bought a BMW M-Roadster when he was around 45-50ish. That probably cost at least $75,000. I think $2,000 is a reasonable splurge in that perspective. |

Meh, that bike needs lugs and nicer paint job. :)
I do like the chain guard though. I want to fit one of those on my Atlantis. In the processing of fitting the internal hub and new cranks now. |

Sorry to rub it in... A) It was a cycling specific event and I think anyone there would want that bike. B) Even if they didn't want they had the option of taking a week long class with Mike Flanigan (who runs ANT) and building their own custom bike in lieu of the bad ass cargo bike. I'm still jealous... |
$2000 ! ! ! ! !
I like the bike but there's SO many ways to reach the same end for 1/2 or less of that price! PROJECT TIME! ! ! ! ! :thumb: |
