It was such a gorgeous morning that I added five miles to my ride in this morning just for the heck of it. Did I ride to work or commute??? I couldn't imagine many people driving further than needed to get to work for the heck of it.

I call it "riding to work", except in this forum, or maybe if I run into a serious cyclist. Or maybe it's because I live in the city, and work in the suburbs, "commute" always seems to imply the reverse. For that matter, "commute" has lots of unpleasant connotations...

it does have negative connotations, riding a bike to work sounds like more fun to me
