Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

One hazard I noticed yesterday was a parent or two with a couple kids that appeared to be in their early teens. The kids were still wobbly on their bikes (how long do they wait before learning to ride these days, anyway?).

So far so good, right? The kicker was when their dad would call ahead to them that I was going to pass (I'm already going slow, and their dad saw me before I said anything), so they'd turn their heads to look back and wobble across the center of the path.

Personally, I would be very afraid if anyone towing a trailer could catch up to me. Oh wait, you're riding a recumbent. You should be safe. No one will ever beat up someone riding a recumbent, because the attacker's friends might see and assume you all are just hanging out.

On MUP's I try to be as annoyingly obvious as I can.

"Hey there...I'm coming around."
ding
"Didn't want to scare you."
"I'm coming around you on your left."
"No, your other left."
"Hey, be careful."

Well since I don't ride 100% everywhere I go in fear that some doofus will sprint up behind me, I was tooling along at around 17 mph.
I myself have yanked a trailer along at 20+ on my road bike, albeit not for too long as that is like having a drag chute on the back.
It was a section of dirt so I was taking it easy, If he had held with me through the next right onto the pavement when I ratcheted up into the 20s I would have paid him the proper respect he would have then deserved.
Lastly I forgot my 400 watts meter and could not dial it in appropriately (rest in peace r600durace).

On the flats my recumbent does indeed smoke my roadbike (my recumbent is of the variety that lays you back into an aerodynamic position though). Hills, well, that's another story and partially why it has sat forlorn while I trained for hillier events and triathlons.

Anyway, Ha ha. Lets make fun of my beard and birkenstocks now.

Hey just a small correction: The Nazis were a party of socialist and under Adolf Hitler executed millions of Jews throughout Europe via gassing, starvation, and disease.

Unless your guy was assisting in some sort of mini MUP genocide he simply sounds a bit over zealous about bells - hence my annoyance about the use and devaluation of the word.

Rant mode off. Aren't I the kick at your party huh?

Yeah, I believe the humor of such a word stems from the overexageration but I do see your point.
On the other hand, of all the self inflated, stupid, mean, bigoted people on this planet that deserve to be mocked I believe the Nazi's fit the bill. I suppose I do not believe they should be revered or respected and mockery insults everything they stood for. I guess there are two ways to look at it. The most important time for seriousness about the Nazi's unfortunately was before they were empowered and did what they did. If I offended you I apologize. I do not believe the act of genocide has any humor to it at all.

In essence from my view it is the victims that should be respected and the perpetrators scorned and mocked.

Nazi in my mind is synonymous with Stupid Overzealous d***weed Monster^1000000000 (and that includes the cowards who were just following orders, it takes people who follow orders to empower a tyrant).

I was going to suggest the air zounds.
People in the US have no idea what a bell means.
Did anyone see the YouTube video of the guy who walked around, I think, Japan with a bike bell in his hand? He'd ring it, people would move over even though there was no actual bike. In the US you could sound an air horn and people wouldn't move; they're ENTITLED to be where they are.
