That looks interesting, I want one!

I'm considering getting either the EXP or the DXP (a little bigger). I'm interested in using it for commuting (holding lunch, some school/work supplies, partial change of clothes) but I'd like the option of being able to cram some groceries in if I stop at the store on the way home, or maybe even use it for some very light touring eventually. Is the bag big enough for you? What made you choose the EXP over the DXP? Did you buy the rain cover?

Warning: Mine is last years' model, so my info may not apply to this new design.

I use the larger model DXP and LOVE it, but I have one thing to report and one complaint.

Report: After less than a year's use I've already got a hole at the bottom of one of the panniers. I think it happened when I laid the bag down on some pavement, or else it's the result of wear-and-tear. Regardless of which caused the hole, I think that's a short life span. :(

Complaint: The top of the bag has a zippered area with some pockets inside it. Unless the pocket inside the main compartment, these pockets don't have eleastic to hold them closed. I tried keeping my badge for work in one of these pockets but gave up after the badge kept flying out of the open top. Poor design, but I'm picky about this stuff.

good to know, but i did buy mine from REI: 100% satisfaction... so far it looks like a sturdy bag. they had a few of last years model there and i liked this one a little better. it seemed to have a little more to it...

the link is down for me?

Yep, have had one for a few years. Works well. If you get the rack that goes with it (and has a ulock holder, etc) make sure you have a back fender, or else the lock gets really dirty :).

Have one. Not well suited for my purposes. But if all you need to carry is your lunch and a few extras, it's a good thing.

I originally ordered the DXP, but had to return it cos it wouldn't fit under my seat (it was a hair too tall--probably would fit fine now that I have a B17 though). I ended up going with the slightly smaller EXP, which works perfectly for my commute. The main compartment holds my day's clothes with no problem, and the pannier is a perfect fit for a pair of shoes (I usually just leave them at work, but it's good to know they fit for days when I do need to transport them). And the quick-release mechanism is a godsend!

Here's a different one. Looks tempting, I like the versatility.
