Anyone living in the Space Coast Area? And commuting in hot weather.

I'll be going to Palm Bay, FL area for my well-deserved summer vacation. Here are my few questions regarding the area? This trip will also be my first time taking a bike on vacation.

1. How bike-friendly is the area? I've been there before but never on a bike so I don't have a chance to survey the bike-friendliness.

2. Any recommendation for a good LBS? I envision I'll need a few bike stuff down there, and probably need support if my bike malfunctions.

3. Salt air and humidity make things rot. Any advice on how to keep things rust-free?

4. How's bike crime in the area?

5. Any good suggestion on places to go for a ride? I also interested in some nature photography.

6. Any advice on fighting the heat?

Thank you very much.
