HOly steam oven Batman! GOT TO STAY CYRO!!!

Ok, friday just hit me like a ton of bricks. I stepped out and bam I could probably jump onto a building and stick to it like Spiderman.

It was ~40C with humidex. Arrgghhh... I hate these temps. It's supposed to still be spring somewhat Gah wished it 10C or less daily but not happening till late fall.

Anyways I started looking into cooling products. I remembered a cooling scarf a while ago somewhere so I jumped on Ebay and checked the web as well. Well turns out they have cooling scarfs for sale as well as cooling vests.

Having just got back from a convention about 2 weeks ago I can tell you I could have used a cooling vest in those 20-25C temps. Yes I hate the heat

I'm not affliated to any of these companies or thier stores but thought I'd post some links to help others cool off.

Cooling Scarf (many patterns) https://search.ebay.com/search/search...=cooling+scarf

The Jolly Rogers pattern looks not bad tho the black or tan would probably blend in better with the skintones at work and such.

Cooling vests https://stores.ebay.com/North-America...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Cooling vests https://search.ebay.com/search/search...est&category0=

For those of you that don't wear helmets because they crimp your style this might work for you. https://cgi.ebay.com/Solar-Fan-Coolin...QQcmdZViewItem

HEAT IS A KILLER! GOTTA STAY CRYO!

Enjoy with your favorite serving of sunblock SPF 9000.

Yeah it was pretty hot. I went out at around 7:30pm and it was still 35+ with humidity. I am sweating for 10 minutes after i get home. At those temps actually riding is not that bad, it's when you stop and you get real hot.

I checked the eBay listing for those vests. They seem like a good idea, but they're targeted at motoryclists. Will they work as well for us, since we are much slower and less wind will be hitting the vest? I could certainly use something like this, as I live in Florida. I rode home Thursday with the temperature at 35 C---so that puts the humidex at 54, if I'm doing this right. That's 96 degrees F and 76% humidity.

I saw this one on eBay also. Made by Trek, and I'm assuming it's designed to be worn UNDER a jersey.

https://tinyurl.com/5hlmgj

I like the other ones for their reflectivity and hi-vis color, but it seems like they would interfere with access to my jersey pockets.

I would be very unimpressed if those things were single-use, disposable cooling items.

But they're not. They look like they might be a good substitute for using air conditioning at home this summer.

(I live in Philly and I don't have an air conditioner because they are either expensive to buy, expensive to operate, or both.)

Nice find. Think you can email Trek on that and see if it's under the jersey or not? You might need to wear a jersey one size up I think.

I think that vest uses the same polymer crystals as the other headbands and vest items tho for the cyclist I think they would use less of the crystals to have less bulk.

I emailed this lady already and her design looks a little better then the other sausage ones by SoaKool with her dual channel setup it seems it can keep a lower profile. Then again it's also $8. I saw something on Ebay which some seller was selling I think 4 for $10 or something like that. CHeck my links I think it'll be there.

I gotta bail for osme steaming yardwork. Home D and other places should be selling those neckband things as withthe heat this summer they should sell like hotcakes. BTW anyone know whereI can buy something like those neck things in Toronto? Gotta go work now.

You don't want to be riding 12:01pm to 3pm...

I did, wasn't too pleasurable even on lakeshore.

morning between 6am~9am is much more bearable though.

I'm jealous. It's 7 Celsius here, chucking down rain, and I'm wearing wool socks, Polarfleece tights and a turtleneck sweater, drinking enough tea to drown myself in an attempt to warm up. Needless to say, I am not ridign anywhere today.

June-uary, someone called it at the farmers' market this morning... bleh. (Of course, standing outside in said rain for five hours, after having slept less than three hours last night, has a lot to do with how cold and miserable I feel now...)

I want heat. I am the crazy Canadian who took a vacation in Atlanta in July a few years ago, and refused to go into air conditioned buildings. I just wanted to stay outside and bask in the heat.

The problem with the vests is that they're evaporative.

What I want is a lightweight vest that uses inserts with those cold pack gels in em.

After a long ride wouldn't they just add weight and insulation?

I just need it to work for my commute, which even taking the long route, is about an hour.

Well one good thing about the heat like this is the girls on the bikes or around. You get to see a lot of eye candy and candy is good sometimes. Something about seeing a euro/french girl in tight white top with a french braid and short skirt on a swept back I think cruiser or english bike does make you want to ride more. Yes I did see a girl like that before while on my way to www.mec.ca . Times when you wished you had a cellphone camera. Tho being one that likes to stay cool I think I'd take the 10C temps over this heat wave anyday even if there are girls riding in bikini's.

Speaking of which.. it's bike month in Toronto. Apparently there is a naked bike ride or 'ass much you want to reveal' as the event explained coming up. That would be interesting. I guess it's fair game then to have a camera and not feel too bad logging the events right? Oh boy... I feel the creepy comments coming.

https://wx.toronto.ca/inter/uds/cycli...3?OpenDocument

Anyone going?

I want the heat back, if my choices are heat or heat and thunderstorms/tornadoes/hail/downed trees. We were without power for about 15 hours here. Then again I'd take the 50-60 degree temps over the low 90s too. Only around here can we go from frost freeze warnings to low 90s within a business week.
