This reminded me of an non-bike-related story, but it deals with trains and, I assume, some embarrassment and it was hilarious. I was on a train in Europe, and I was looking out the window because I was so excited to take in all the scenery when I spotted a man standing at the edge of a treeline. As we approached, I could see he was urinating, but he didn't have any cover from the train and he probably couldn't just stop in the middle of it. So he was just standing there with a panicked look on his face, exposed and immobile. It was so funny because I could see that he just walked a few feet through these trees to have some protection from the town behind him. When he started, there probably wasn't a train in sight, so he thought he was good to go, only to display his junk to an entire train full of people.

After using clipless pedals for about a year I realized I didn't need them.

I've been riding clipless for a while now and fell over just yesterday while making a u-turn at low speed. Even after you ride for years in clipless it can still happen! :notamused:

A long time ago (about 10 BC*) I tried to torque across a major thoroughfare while tightly strapped and cleated in. Well, the quick release on my rear wheel wasn't tightened to specifications and when I pumped on the crank, the chain pulled the axle forward and the tire jammed up against the chainstay. Needless to say, the bike immediately stopped and I plopped over in the middle of the road, still neatly strapped in. The screeching car tires drew attention from all within earshot such that the next day and 10 miles away, an acquaintance asked: "Have a little trouble with your bike yesterday?" Now, it is not unusual for me to resort to using a tire lever to open my QR.

So...
Did you get off the bike and looking it over to "fix" the pedals which obviously caused the problem or pretend to curse it out a bit?
You know like all those baseball players to look at their glove like it dropped the ball ;)

I remember when my wife got her clipless pedals. Barely over 100lbs and using speedplay zeros just don't work, but they were PINK :). Right in front of the police department/town hall and fire department falling again and again on the lawn. Finally convinced her to get light actions and all was well, also pink but they had to be ordered. Now she can't ride without clipless shoes. Hm.. and when I made her fall weeks later when I came to a stop and she didn't notice. Down she goes in the middle of the road in front of all the stores oops.

I've only fallen recently when I tried to swipe the badge at my current workplace trying to go slowly waiting for the gate which was fun with cars waiting to swipe their card behind me. Nope.. I can't trackstand my new recumbent bad idea!
