Rain Jacket - Tall Person
Another rain jacket thread...
I'm having trouble finding a good rain jacket. I've been searching around, found a few things, but they all have extra little features claiming to add "for extra warmth." I don't need that at all, I'm in Florida. I need something light weight, breathable, thin, etc. I am 6'3" and thin; usually a Tall Large fits just fine for a sweater, shirt, etc. Any stores, brands, etc. I should look at? |
Have you seen the recent "rain cape" threads? I am your height, wear a "Large" and find many clothes leave some exposure at the waist. The rain cape seems like a perfect solution.

I have, I'm really looking for a jacket type....something that's fitted around my body. I have more of an issue with my arm length, tall sizes usually solve that problem. I wish I just could find a cheap, light weight/thin jacket to keep the rain off my back.
I actually remember buy a rain jacket at the Gap many years ago. It was super thin, kept the rain out, and you just kind of crumple into a ball and fit into a small little pouch it came with. It was an actually jacket with a zipper. It was great! Would be perfect for biking, keep it in my pannier and take it out when needed. Blah... |

Just get wet you pansies.

The Performance Illuminuite Commuter wont work for you, at least not in the large. I'm 6'0" and usually a medium tall fits me arms perfectly, with a large being a little big in the gut for me. The large commuter fits my arms when outstretched, but doubt it would if I were 3" taller.

For Florida any hardshell rainjacket is going to be way too much. Try a Montane featherlight windshirt. Mine weighs 4 oz's and packs as small as an orange. Mine is called a Montane Marathon, made for joggers, they also make a cyclign version, both work fine. Rain resistant, not waterproof. As long as your pedaling and generating heat, it'll keep you good in all but a an hour long downpour.
