Don't shop Airbomb.com

I had a lousy experience with these people. This is a internet company that does lousy Customer Service. I ordered a rim from them and it took three weeks for them to ship it. And it wasn't because of backlog or anything. I had to call them long distance three times to find out the status of my order. They even e-mailed me to tell me my tracking number. But guess what, they didn't even back up they're email and give me a tracking number. Two weeks after that I had to call them to get the tracking number. This is a company out of San Diego who brags about having an inventory of over 150,00 items but can't fill an order of a product that they claim to have. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS COMPANY.

We have a sub-forum for discussions about experiences with companies... Is it really that hard to have a look around the sub forums to see if such a thing exists before posting your rant in your favorite forum?

"Manufacturer, Retailer, and Consumer Feedback" seems like it might be a bit more appropriate.

No need to be so rude. A gentle reminder the other sub-form exists would suffice.

I agree with you more than most could imagine. I hate it when people are so high and mighty and forget that there was a time (believe it or not) that they didn't know everything.

Most internet merchants do not realize that if a customer files a dispute on the charge or debit card that it will hit their account and the funds will be removed and returned to the account of the purchaser plus an additional charge called a "Charge Back" of anywhere from 25 to 35 dollars. It will then be investigated by the issuing bank (your credit card company or bank) and not by the Merchant Bank. It is very difficult for a merchant to win even if they are in the right. If they are in the wrong - watch out!

If they get to many (Visa says anything in excess of 1% is to much) Charge Backs their account can be closed, the bank may require a reserve. It can get nasty for them. So, they had better pay attention to doing business in a very efficient and honest manner.

Be careful Airbomb.com Your merchant account may be at risk!

I suspect that most Internet merchants to realize this.

Several years ago I had a small manufacturing business and sold things online (I've since sold the business - too much hassle!). One customer ordered some custom-made parts, to the tune of $600. I made them, shipped them (a week earlier than the originally agreed-upon date) and emailed him the tracking number. I charged his card the same day I shipped the parts. UPS, unfortunately, didn't deliver the two-day package in two days. My customer emailed me at 11 PM to say that he hadn't gotten them, and called his credit card company at 8 the next morning to do a chargeback. I emailed him at 9 to point out that the tracking number could be used to find out where his order was, and it was in his hands that afternoon. He called his bank back to cancel the chargeback; unfortunately, by that time they'd debited my account for the $600 charge three times (!), one of which bounced. They tried again and again over the following week to debit that from my account, each time running up a $35 NSF fee for me. It took six weeks and over twenty hours of my time on the phone with his credit card company to get it straightened out, and they never did manage to get the original charge back in (he eventually got fed up waiting for them to get it all straightened out and sent me a check). The end result was that, instead of making $250 on the sale, I lost about $200. All over a customer who couldn't wait for a reasonable time for an email response, punch the tracking number into the UPS web site, or realize (until it was too late) that he wasn't getting ripped off.

There were more reasons than that why I sold the business, but that was a huge part of it.

IOW, even if the company is in the right - watch out!

I have had the same problem with Airbomb. I don't like 'em.

However, they are really the same as Beyondbikes. Well, I should say both of them utilize the same distributing personnel...I think it's just one guy or maybe a couple guys who probably store all the parts in their garage and do all of the service on the orders. One time I had trouble with Airbomb, called in, and the guy credited me from Airbomb and sent me the part from Beyond Bikes!!!!

Weird, but true...so, this guy obviously didn't own the two, just did the distributing, and each company s till has their own policy restricting him from certain things per the contract. Omne of those things is notifying people about out of stock items...Airbomb seems to never have anything in stock. I've theorized before that their business model is to not stock anything, but say they stock everything in the universe, and just get it from QBP when enough orders roll in. St00pid, and I will not patronize them.

I own a merchant services company and agree with just about everything that you stated. After dealing with a few thousand internet merchants over the past five years I am sometimes quite surprised at their lack of understanding of the process and the potential consequences for poor business practices.

The consumer has numerous avenues to address internet merchants that are "sloppy" or outright "fraudulent" in their business practices. The business could lose their merchant account and end up being placed on the Terminated Merchant File and will never be able to get a merchant account again. Ultimately - no merchant account - no internet business.

Hopefully the OP and others at BF have reasonable expectations (I believe the OP does) and the OP does all a favor by letting us know about their experience with a particular merchant.

One dollar - One Vote! Bad service and we vote somewhere else!
