Google still doesn't have Street View in DC as far as I can tell. They also used to have pixelated versions of the Capitol and other government buildings (I guess to try to reduce the ability of terrorists to make attack plans), but those are full resolution now (although the bird's eye view at maps.live.com is all pixelly).

I think it's fun, and hardly worth worrying about. So they can see some of us fixing our stairs -- I can see people doing the same thing if I go for a walk. My sister was showing my parents and I around her neighborhood in Germany via Google Earth, and that was way cool.

Google employees a fleet of vehicles that do nothing but drive around taking pictures. Each vehicle is equipped with a specialized camera rig which takes the photos. So basically only that which can bee seen from the street is captured.

I fail to see how this is even tangentially related to satellite imagery. And FYI, systems like GeoEye, which was just launched yesterday, rival or even surpass the capabilities of goverment systems.

So is it like that scene in "Poltergiest", where the house was sucked into the vortex? Or like the "Simpsons", with a sinkhole?

I understand that Vice cops search google maps for the people that had their photos removed and put them on the list for drug raids.

Trousers yes. You can't go birdwatching without trousers.
