Brightest tail light

I would like to buy a super-bright taillight since I train at night- it hot out here!

Suggestions?

Planet Bike Superflash, Powerflare, Niterider Universal Tailight are all pretty bright. I think the Planet Bike is the cheapest...not 'chinzy' cheap, but inexpensive rather. I use the Niterider myself as I've got the Trailrat HL. Have seen the Powerflare and they're obnoxious...in a good way. https://www.powerflare.com The Niterider Trailrat and Universal Tailight are avilable at https://www.brandscycle.com Around 155.00 for the set w/no shipping charges. The Superflash is available at tons of online stores. Just googlesearch it. Be safe.

I second the Planet Bike Superflash. Get it at MEC.CA for cheap.

Get two Superflashes.
For two reasons:

- redundancy
- from a distance, it looks like a larger taillight, hence more visible from afar.

I have two Superflashes and they work great but if you're looking for the brightest retail solution, it would have to be a Dinotte 140L:

That picture is not of my bike. I simply found the pic online.

I have both the SuperFlash and the Cateye TL-1100. The Cateye is significantly brighter.

Dinotte Taillight. Look at it compared to ~1000 lumenns of front light on my bike:

No blinky comes close! If I had to pick a blinky though, the planet bike superflash is very nice.

Dinotte XLS Triple Taillight would definitely be "super bright." I haven't seen one in person but I imagine it would be a sight to behold.

I run a pair of Dinotte 140L-AA-R lights on my commute/errand bike day and night.

Hmm looks like it won't let me link directly to the triple taillight page for some reason. From the menu that displays when you click the link above just go to "all products" then go to page 3.

I went fron numerous combinations involving 2+ PB Superflashes and other various blinkies to a Dinotte and Superflash on the back of the helmet.

The Superflash is great, but hands down, the DiNotte is far superior.

BLT Ultra Wazoo DX, it is the brightest rear light allowed under the highway traffic act. As bright as any cars brake lights. https://www.blt-lights.com/product/re...trawazoodx.php

I have the DiNotte lights and the red rear light is set to blink. The other day some guy in a cargo van stopped to tell me he could see my lights from "miles away" and said that they are "way safe man".

Zip tie a flare to the rack. You'd also get the batman cache.

Just kidding, of course.

The Dinotte is the platinum standard but costs the most. The Niterider Universal is the gold standard and is half the price of the Dinotte, but twice the price of a lot of battery powered blinkies. The superflash is the best deal in the low end market IMO.

Since you train at night to beat the heat, have you ever considered switching to generator hub lighting? I won't go into the particulars of the maths (PM me if you want the details) but I'm saving over 150g in total weight by switching my battery lighting out for a dynohub system, and now I don't have to worry about limited lighting time.
Supernova makes a 3 LED, 180 degree visiblity tail light for dynohub systems and it's so bright it's silly.

This light is marketed under several brands - mine is Serfas and have seen a Cateye model looking very similar. Can be bought on DX dirt cheap, maybe $5. It is not waterproof in a downpour. Rode to work in downpour, didn't work coming home. Water got inside and caused the switch to behave randomly. I use this rack mounted and a PBSF mounted to reflective vest. I like the built in reflector aspect.

The Dinotte is brightest but my setup works so the cost isn't justified yet.

Are the Xenon strobes out of fashion? I am thinking of the Lightman red strobe, powered by AA batteries:

Planet Bike Superflash + 1

WARNING!!!

What nobody will tell you is that, when you get this little gizmo, your first instinct will be to point it at your face and fire it up. DO NOT DO THIS!! The darn thing is so bright, you'll be seeing spots for a week (mine gave me a sunburn too, but I burn easily).

I found them for $16 online once and bought extras to give to my friends who commute. Hard to beat at this price and PlanetBike rocks!

If price is not an issue than the dinotte would be my choice. I purchased mine with my dividend from rei and a 20% off coupon.

Otherwise, the superflash.

I have been underwhelmed by every cateye tailight I have owned.

This looks exactly like the View Point light sold at Performance which is always on sale for about $15.00. I use the View Point and find it very effective.
