DiNotte and rain: how do they mix?
I rode today in a light drizzle, and it occurred to me (halfway to work, naturally) that my helmet mounted DiNotte might see some ill-effect from the water. Luckily, I ride mostly on a bike path and left pretty late in the morning so I didn't need the illumination to see my way or for visibility among cagers.
Should I be worried about it in less-than-dry conditions? If so, does anyone have any tips I can protect my investment with (preferably, ones that will also allow me to use the light)?

My 600/140 combo survived this past winter's PNW monsoons without any problems at all. I think Dinotte products are engineered for pretty extreme conditions, so I wouldn't have any worries at all about having them out in a light drizzle.

the the lamp section is water proof, it has a rubber washer all around.
The battery section, if you use the AA pack, isn't.
The lens can get dirty from snow or dirt kicked up by the wheel.

I also have a 600/140 combo. It survived a torrential downpour with no issues. The battery pack for the 140 tailight(4xAA) did soak through but worked fine. I just dried each battery out real good when I got home.

yeah, just be sure you dry the terminals on the AA pack if it does get drenched since it can rust.

If you mount the rear light on a rack end and you don't have fenders, the grit coming off the wheel will sand blast the flange and gasket. This will affect the water proofing.
Keep an eye out for wear on the flange and you should be ok. No problems with the 600L so far, but the flange and gasket needed replacement. Dinotte sent me two of sets for free.
I am moving the light to my seat stays using a TerraCycle accessory mount. Pricey but made to last a lifetime. I have the 600L attached to a TerraCycle mount up front and am very happy with the arrangement.

my tail light has been through some heavy Texas sever thunders storms with out issue. I just spray down the aa battery holder with wd40 after every heavy rain event and I have no signs of rust.

I have a Dinotte headlight on my handlebars, another on my helmet (in the wintertime), and one of their tail lights, powered by their Li-Ion battery packs. No issues in rain, snow, sleet, sun, or slightly overcast.
It is cool to see how fast a snowflake melts when it hits that headlight

I have a 200L with the 2C Lithium Ion battery and it has survived six months or so of PNW with nary a hiccup.
I used a Cygolite Dualcross through the heart of winter; same deal and I even left that on my bike outside in the rain and wind all day several times.
The Niterider Sol that was my first light, not so much. I think it lasted for five days or something.
