Photoshop Commuter

I bought a commuter bike from the big, evil, giant Performance online and am waiting for it to arrive. So I fired up Photoshop to see what the bike would look like with my planned mods.

First the bike stock:

Next the bike with a rack, panniers, seat, and moushtashe bars:

And finally with some mounted assistance to get up big hills and make tailgaters back off (I had to shorten the cranks so I wouldn't get heel rub):

I'll have to give credit to my friend Carl for that. He pointed out I would get heel rub with that setup so I modded the crank.

I didn't want to put the jet on the rack for a couple of reasons. First I think it will be more than the rack is rated for and second, I didn't want to get sucked into the intake while firing it up.

Hahahaha...think you're gonna need bigger rotors for that setup.

why performance.. and schwinn?? i can't support pacific cycle... they are in it for the money... schwinn is only a name anymore... its a shame really. and i hear cannondale is in the process of being bought out too... mod it well and i hope its doesnt fail on you

darkfinger 07-10-08 01:36 PM

looks good!
The heat from the engine and the intake ought to keep your legs nice and smooth too!

What bicycle company of any size isn't in it for the money? And I got it because it was almost half the retail price.

The noise alone should scare off any motorists.

Change that turbine to a gear-driving turbine from a helicopter and you've got yourself the MTT Turbine SUPERBIKE

You mean the Schwinn decal over the Cervelo frame to keep the thieves away? ;)

of course any company is in it for the money... but surely it started with the love of riding... something pacific cycles has never had. i myself run a shop here in new jersey and internet sales and department store threaten my job. i can't begin to tell you how many people turn away at the costs of biek these days saying " i can get in cheaper online". its that mindset that hurts all the shops out there.

for example the other day... i was out of the shifters i wanted for my commuter. instead of just orderign them through a distributo or online i went to the next local shop and gladly paid full retail for them, just to help out another local shop.

not to flame u but supporting your LBS is a huge support to the industry and provides the quality companys the commerce needed to make better bikes for us all.

I usually support my local shops for my purchases but this purchase came at a rough time financially. We're paying off my son's hospital bills and will be for several years. I'm selling one of our cars and had a certain amount I could spend on the bike. Wasn't able to get anything I wanted at either of our LBS's because of end of the year stock being low. Believe me, I checked. Almost got a Surly LHT but this ended up being several hundred dollars cheaper and that's more money going to the hospital.

i'm sorry to hear that... i'm on here to make friends not enemies... goodluck with everything

harleyfrog 07-11-08 09:09 AM

Gary, sorry to hear about your son. FWIW, I have some major medical bills coming up, too (and my wife and I are trying to get out of debt, to boot). Keep your chin up; it'll all work out and you'll be better for it in the end. :thumb:
