some of the ways I have used old tubes:
grips on xbox controller
grip on lip balm
money loop (some tubes are just the right size to hold a folded dollar)
tied down rack to eyelet after bolt shook loose
mounting loops for frame pump (instead of a peg I have loops that I stick the end into)
patched sidewall of a blow out
big loop that goes around my seat bag and seat post (holds it still and keeps it low-profile)

and finally, band-aid (napkin I had in my pocket from lunch held in place by a a section of tube on my toe (had on sandels))

I've made a couple of belts from innertubes and fast-tex buckles salvaged from old packs. No belt loops on my baggie bike shorts, but it still holds them up and I hold my u-lock with it too. I've received several complements (mostly from messengers). One lady who didn't look like a biker asked me if it was a new style.

I use them as sleeve covers over my bicycle headset. I put them where the fork shoulder meets the heat tube to keep rain and grit out of the headset bearings. I also use them at the top of the head-tube to cover the top bearings.

Of course, this is for non-sealed headsets (old-school already? - not sure, still seeing these around a lot).

Cut the tube to about a 12-inch length, tied the ends together with a water knot like a fat rubberband. Then used it to mount a flashlight to the handlebars. It's hard to describe, but you can provide some cushioning between the handlebar and flashlight if you mount it similar to this product....

Put a little wrap of an old tube around your handlebars to make things fit better (those things that clamp on your bars), like computer, bells, aerobars etc.

there is an artist here in BUdapest, well, she wen tto the school of industrial designed, amjored in art sg... anyway, she collects old tubes form all the LBS here and makes wallets and stuff like that...

I will be making some too since she charges far too much and it should be easy to make...

might make a book cover for my daughter... and a belt for me...

Ranger Bands! Great for securing items to backpacks, duty belts, or in-case-of-Zombie-attacks bags.

Also use them as non slip handle covers for my Cold Steel Bushman knives.

Put a strip on the side of your tackle box for hook hangers. This REALLY helps keep hooks out of your sandle cladded feet.

Cut into strips for wraps on gear and fishing poles.

I used an old tube to wrap around the base of some saplings I'm growing in the back yard. It keeps the rabbits from chewing on the bark.

Also, I used a couple of tubes to tie around a tree to get it growing perpendicular to the ground. I tied the other ends around stakes that are anchored nearby.

Just the metal valve stem (correction, the whole valve, sawed off at the base where it attaches to the tube) with a hacksaw. Which leaves the rest of the tube for the other uses above, some of which I um, never really considered ...

The easy one is rubber band. I used one to hang my sleeping bag in between my handle bars on a tour. & another one to tie down my Ulock to my make sift rack. Also on my compter chair at home I have about 3 going across the back to, instead of the cloth, its like a directors chair, It feels nice. & i have 2 good tubes unfolded just hanging on my door handle to my room.

Im always looking for new ideas though.
