How about a Racing sub-forum?

Lots of other forums have them (Road, Mountain, Cyclocross). I think it would be nice to have a place where people can post race results, lap times, etcetera from their commutes.

Why not start a thread for your area, route and type of bike? Then see how popular it is?

Hmmm, if I'm doing laps on my way to work, it means I missed a turn somewhere!

Really. Race results and lap times...from my commute??? I can see it now: "made good time nearly all the way to work, but then failed to make the move onto the Common because of oncoming traffic, and so had to do the Washington Street penalty lap..."

I sure am not in any hurry to get to work! lol!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:
perhaps something more community centered (probably only in portland, or Amsterdam) you could post times for like, "Took about 10 minutes going on washington st. from crestview to elm" but other than that, we (at least I) don't race when i commute.

I could see a place for commute training tips, i.e. tips on how to work a training ride into your commute.
There is a Cannondale that I see occasionally on my commute, we sprint up the hill.

I'm not interested in it, but it sounds like a good idea. Contact the forum moderators.

I just think this forum is too dedicated to "casual" commuters. Whenever someone who is serious about commute-racing posts how they won the morning commute, they get shot down by people who criticize the very idea of racing during the commute. A separate sub-forum would give everyone their needed space.

Is there a such thing as a sanctioned commuter race?

ps - Tee Hee.

Hah. Brilliant. We'd finally have one-stop shopping for all the "I smoked a roadie" threads.

On Bikeradar, in the UK, they've devised a points system to allow you to know who you have to overtake, and who you cannot possibly let overtake you. When I was riding my unmodified Raleigh 20 with 3 speed and steel wheels, in my suit, I had a score of 19, which essentially means that nobody could afford to let me pass them. No wonder the Embankment Peloton would try so hard to drop me! I thought it was just their spandex and carbon making them desperate to be actually fast, but it turns out, points were possibly at stake....

Yes, but it is usually the annual car v bus v bicycle race.
