Anyone have the Giant FCR 2

First post, but I have been lurking for the past 2 weeks or so. Anyways, I think I am ready to make the jump to a fitness bike. I have narrowed my choice to the Trek 7.5 FX or the Giant FCR2. By default I have to go with the Giant FCR2, I have called 5 local Trek dealers and they are all sold out of the Trek 7.5. I have test rode both bikes and they feel very comfortable. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions one way or another as I don't know how the stock equipment is on these bikes.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kris

Well I have the FRC3 so I dont know how much stock you put in my opinion but its a great bike! Giant is hard to beat for the price point especially with the FCR because it is their best seller on the market. The FRC2 seems to be everything that I would want to upgrade on my bike plus a carbon fork! Very nice! However, I haul a lot of groceries and random crap because I dont like to drive my car more than once a month so I like my wider tires. The FRC3 comes with 35s but I think the FRC2 is 28s?

I also have the FCR3 and I love my bike. The FCR2 also has drop down handle bars which I didn't want for my daily commuter. My FCR3 serves me well and I'm sure the FCR2 will be as good or even better.

The FCR2 does not have drop bars. It is a flat bar with bar ends, not the drop bar kind. You might have gotten the FCR2 confused with an OCR2. The FCR2 does have 28mm tires, the FCR3 has 32mm tires, not 35mm.

I do like the FCR's. I own one and it is my daily commuter/grocery getter. I think they are great bikes, a lot of fun. You might take my word with a grain of salt though, I do work at an LBS that sells them. Last week, we were told by Giant that there are no more FCR's until the next model year ones come. It is one of our best sellers and we are almost out of stock.

whoops! I definitely got it confused with the OCR2. I should check my facts before posting.

But yeah, the guy at my LBS told me the same thing. Basically the FCR line is very popular. I got the last FCR3 in the store and they weren't getting anymore. A person was already looking at it before I got there but decided to pass on it, thank goodness!

Been commuting on the FCR-3 for about two months now....this is a really great bike. Even with a loaded BOB trailer behind it the handling is very nice.

I just got a FCR2, today actually. I had planned on getting the FCR3 but they didn't have my size and no word as to when they were getting more (not till next model year apparently). They showed me a few bikes in the same price range as the FCR3 and none of them did it for me. While they were scouring their stock downstairs I'd already sold my self on the FCR2 sitting next to it.

I haven't been on a bike in 15 years (just getting back into it to get in shape) so I have nothing to compare it to but does it ever feel good. Light & snappy. I had it out cruising the subdivision tonight and the one thing that really stood out was the silence, nothing but tires on asphalt. I'm not in any condition to push the bike so I can't comment there but so far I'm pretty pumped about it.

I love my FCR3, but I consider it too good to use as an errands bike unless I bring the bike w/ me inside the stores (which I have done a few times). I'm too paranoid to lock it up to a rack, which I've never seen done w/ bikes costing $500 or more.
