Meh. Unless you live down near Galveston, this thing will likely just be a protracted thunderstorm with some gusty wind. I will judge whether I want to ride in the morning.

I appreciate the sentiment; however, those of us who are 50 miles inland won't have too much to worry about. The only time we really have to worry is Cat 2 more where the storm runs over Galveston and Clear Lake and STILL has juice to spare..:twitchy:

It's been 100 like 40 days in a row here. Saturday hit 103. Yesterday hit 107. Weather.com says it's 102 right this minute. And getting hotter... It's only the first week of August, and we will likely have these temps until the beginning of October. :cry:

So...

I'm shutting it down until the heat breaks. I'll commute now and then when the weather is to my liking, but I'm not ****ing around with these late-afternoon temps anymore. It's just not worth it. I think I'm going to spend my time building a dynamo hub front wheel and junk like that.

I'll ride recreationally, when I can control the hour and therefore the temperature. I'm ok_commuter, not ok_martyr. :p

I'm staying home tomorrow hahaa. I went shopping after work today and picked up some emergency brew to keep me safe from the storm :innocent:

I mostly agree, but, the ground is hard as a rock from all the heat and no rain, even if you only see 20mph winds, if it stalls and rains for hours, there will be flooding, so be prepared.

never ridden a bike in a hurricane before....gives me an idea. :D

Same here. Will give it a try and take a few pic.

My friends and I used to like riding our bikes on flooded streets after big storms. Now that I have places to go, I don't like flooded streets. Yeah, I agree we need the rain to break the drought conditions. I know people a little farther inland really need it as well.

I I have no more Emergency Beer, so I will have to delve into the Celebration Beer, Condolences Beer or Anger Management Beer tomorrow...

My sister lives in Highlands and she didn't sound too worried except to tell me that usually the tropical storms seem to drop more rain than a hurricane. I don't know I would think the hurricane would be the full meal deal on the rain but hey she is my older sister and I don't argue, she would beat me up like she did when we were kids. Anyway y'all stay safe as you can down there. Prayers to all
