I wont give you advice, you know what you should do and you know what you're gonna do. I can tell you however I never have such problems coz I'm just not the sharing type and I am very selfish. My wife says so. But heck, I'm a happier guy for it.

I've only let a friend ride my bikes a couple of times, as he is a BMXer from way back and is technically a very good cyclist. The wife, she has ridden my MTB but won't now as it's gone clipless. I would let someone borrow it but only if its not out of my sight for very long.

As everyone has said buy a crappy 2nd hand bike and loan him that.

Bingo, this is the right answer... and what I have done.

Don't have a spare... here is your incentive to get one.

I wouldn't lend my bike to anyone

It is my only transport.

When I was in the Army someone borrowed my bike and went drinking. When they came back the front rim was badly bent. It got caught in trolly tracks. So I had to buy a new rim.

There's only one person I'd loan my Portland to--the brother of a co-worker who steered me to it. He rides a Portland the same size as mine at home. Otherwise, nope, not ever.

My 1000 I'd load out if it fit the rider, but with the cheesy wheelset and tires I use on the rollers. Definitely not with the custom handbuilt wheelset I ride with.

The last time I rode someone else's bike, I crashed it.

The answer is no.

No

This is what WallyWorld bikes are for.

Machka 08-10-08 10:34 PM

Machak does not get loaned out.

My other bicycles, however, are available to be loaned out to certain people.

Yes, as long as they understand that they're paying for all damage and replacement. And they're buying you dinner at least once.
