Peugeot Competion age unknown.
Ok I'm looking for an old beater that I can leave at the pool, but one that's still quite a nice ride. As some of you know I don't know much about road bikes. Anyone know what this bike is like? Peugeot's I dimly remember as being one of the alternatives to Raleigh bikes in the UK when I was a kid.
I'm going to ask whats up with the shifters and I take it the frame looks aluminum?

Buy out price is $230 American.
looks a little pricey to me considering it's fairly battered.

I'm not familiar with the local market but $230 for a decade old road bike with non-functional shifters is too much. STI's are not cheap to replace. I suppose you could find some 7 speed downtube shifters or convert it to a single speed. If that's your plan anyway then maybe it's not too bad a bike. It probably has a decent frame. I don't know if the fork is aluminum or steel. If it's aluminum, then it's worth less in my mind.
I'm going to guess mid to late 90's. I don't know when RSX shifters were common. It does like aluminum based on the large downtube.
In the U.S., Peugeot used the name "Competition" was used at one time for a bike near the top of the line, but not quite top of the line.
There are some Peugeot experts in the Classic and Vintage forum but this bike looks like it comes from a period after Peugeot quit selling bikes in the U.S.
