Wow, you guys have power? I'm jealous. They're telling us we won't get ours until sometime next week. Our garage apartment has it, though, so we can run extension cords.

I've bike commuted to work from the heights to the med center for two days now. Lots of lights out, but debris on the road isn't too bad. More and more cars on the road, as the gas crunch is easing, and the drivers are PISSED. I hit a huge backup yesterday at the Waugh/Allen parkway intersection (light is out there) and there wasn't enough room to filter up the side, so I had to dismount, get on the sidewalk and ride a ways, then dismount and carry the bike over a fallen tree (too much weight in the pannier to even think about hopping it with all those witnesses). I still got through the intersection faster than the cars did.

Rush hour on Monday will be a nightmare, let me make that prediction right now.

No power for me yet.
I just had to spend another 40 bucks on gas for 2 more nights of generator usage.

Rice Village area checking in here. We got lucky; no trees in my living room and only lost power for 4 hours. Our neighbors across the street still don't have power though; we're supplying them power by running extension cords across the street. We're powering 3 houses at the moment; hope they don't get too carried away.

Only good thing that came out of this is that houston was a bike-friendly town for a few days afterwards with minimal traffic and abnormally cool weather. We even did our grocery run on bikes wednesday afternoon; thats usually reserved for quieter, cooler sunday mornings.

Other than that, F U Ike!!!
