If it's your first year riding in the cold, use other peoples lists which they have generously posted in many threads here and on the winter biking forum as a starting point.
Then: keep a log and write down what works for you, develop your own list as your tolerances and local climate and conditions will be unique.
Every year, I get to the fall I have to refer back to my list. For some reason after months of shorts and short sleeves and sandals, I just can't remember what worked in specific conditions from the year before. And I have an arsenal of clothing to ride year round. Having the list and knowing just what to wear without guessing makes my riding experience that much more pleasurable.
