Throwing pennies? pathetic. Bank of America would be sad.

Forget "fall to their level" -- that's something that teachers say to grade school kids when they want to emotionally manipulate them into good behavior. Try "I'm not going to get arrested, fined, fired, sued or stomped". That's what keeps most people out of trouble, if they have the wit to imagine the consequences of their actions.

When I was younger I had someone throw a paper bag with something in it at me. It was like the leftovers of someones lunch or something. It was pretty heavy and left a nasty bruise. I've also been shot by airsoft or bb gun before. What I really hate though is when people drive up right besides me and yell at me. It always startles me and gets my heart racing for the next few minutes (I hate the feeling of artificial flight or fight heart rate jumps). BTW, I always rode in the bike lanes going the correct direction and used hand signals and I'm a very defensive rider so I doubt I pissed off any of these people.
Since I've recently started riding again, I'm going to come up with some imaginative ways of getting people back next time this happens to me. |
I would have pulled over and picked them all up. Savings, there they go!
The only thing that I've ever been hit with was a paintball. I got paintballed at speed one night on my way home. I was riding up the street (Stelling at 280) in the dark with my lights on and all, I heard a compressed-air sort of a noise, felt something hit my arm hard, and a dark-colored Explorer went by. I didn't even flinch. It was only when I got home that I saw the welt and the paint. They used orange. Didn't match the shirt or the bike at all! |

Pennies at 85 mph can scare the bejeezus out of anyone.
True story...back in the early 90s, went out to a club, and decided to watch Dawn's Early Light Fireworks at Santa Monica for July 4th. Five cars were headed to Santa Monica from Eagle Rock. Anyways we convoy down, 4 cars are on the #2 lane, buddy is in the #1 lane. Car pulls up behind him and flashes him to pass, honks horn, etc. Its about 3am, there's nobody else on the 10 fwy so I don't know why he didn't just go around. I back off, let him in the convoy and guy passing him flips the bird. Buddy pulls out behind him and guns it, his 68 Cougar (complete with BOSS 302 motor) easily rides the guys Firebird. I pull right and pass everyone with my 68 Olds Cutlass, my motor and exhaust easily waking up everyone asleep in the other cars. The other cars follow us as we chase this guy down. Everyone starts pelting the Firebird with pennies. He breaks for the 405 S offramp and makes it, barely. It was a crazy adrenaline dump. Haven't done that ever or since. |

Better get new pennies so I only need to cart around 584 kilos.. ugh.. Maybe it would be easier to throw some dollar coins? |
As a Motorcycle rider for many years I carry .25 Caliber BB's (The size one uses in a WristRocket Slingshot) in a easy to get to pocket....A quick flip of a few of these babys over ones shoulder will get a J.A.M.'s attention in a QUICK Hurry!!! And some Coca-Cola in a water bottle for squirting on the J.A.M.'s paint....insta custom paint job!!!

Unloading half a can of pepper spray inside someone's car, would be a nice touche'.

If you're going to go that route, how about a Tippman paint grenade? Light up the inside of the car like a dye-pack of bills from a bank heist.

This woman got 2 years in jail for throwing a cup of ice from her moving car. It was classified as a missile. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...021701560.html

Wow. Thanks, now I understand the bailout. The US is so ticked off it's going to throw 750 trillion pennies at a bunch of guys in limousines on Wall Street.:notamused:

Well, I'm appalled. I must be naive, too, because I've never heard of this before. The worst I can report is, when attempting to cross the street in front of my office when the light turns green, sometimes the oncoming drivers stop in the middle of the crosswalk. I admit that I have given some of them an earful as I make my way around their vehicles. They usually don't understand what is the problem. Since then, I've decided to give it a rest. Some of these people might be armed, after all.
A friend in Palo Alto, CA, tells us the cycling clubs in her area are very aggressive, lashing out with metal rods at the vehicles that venture too close to their dedicated bike lanes, scratching or denting the doors or fenders. I think that is excessive. |

I got a penny thrown at me once in the face. The penny was traveling at around 85 km/h and it did not feel good. See post http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...12#post7195912

Ok... I'll stop. :bike2: -3bikes |
