I used to know a guy who always bought 4 tyres, 2 wide(~25c) and 2 narrow(~20c), cut the beads off the narrow pair and then used them as tyre liners for the wide set.

Claimed he never had a puncture since he started doing that.

This was on a road bike.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus - I have no flats in ~ 4000 miles on mine. Lighter weight than steel liners or two sets of tires.
